Eliminating 2SLGBTQIA+ health disparities and enhancing efforts to improve 2SLGBTQIA+ health is necessary to ensure that 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals can lead long, healthy lives. What Does 2SLGBTQIA+ Mean?
2SLGBTQIA+ is an acronym for:

People often use 2SLGBTQIA+ to mean all of the communities included in the “LGBTTTQQIAA”. The + stands for other ways individuals express their gender and sexuality outside heteronormativity and the gender binary.

+ Gender Queer
+ Bigender
+ Gender Variant
+ Pangender
LGBTQ is the more commonly used term in the community; possibly because it is more user-friendly! You may also hear the terms “Queer Community”, or “Rainbow Community” used to describe 2SLGBTQIA+ people. This initialism and the various terms are always evolving so don’t try to memorize the list. The most important thing is to be respectful and use the terms that people prefer.
Pronoun Usage
He/Him | A person who identifies as male |
She/Her | A person who identifies as female |
They/Them | A gender-neutral pronoun. Typically used by people who are non-binary; they are not exclusively male or female |
Ze/Zir | A neopronoun which is also a gender-neutral pronoun. Typically used by people who are non-binary; they do not feel that they are male or female or do not feel they should be labeled as such |
[Name] | Some people do not use pronouns at all, in this case you refer to them by their name alone |
This page was developed to provide a collection of terminology to help make conversations easier and more comfortable. 2SLGBTQIA+ people use a variety of terms to identify themselves, not all of which are included in this glossary. Always listen for and respect a person’s self-identified terminology.
